Continuous Innovation
At SigmaQ, we know that long-term relationships are built on continual growth and improvement. That’s why we never stop developing better ways to deliver what our client partners need.
1970s
Introduced Surlyn, a groundbreaking innovation with exceptional sealing properties, puncture resistance and barrier capabilities to the Central American market, resulting in faster line speeds, extended shelf life, and alleviation of safety concerns due to inadequate seals.
1984
Introduced micro-corrugated, a lighter, thinner alternative to traditional corrugated board with enhanced strength and durability, a smoother surface for superior printing, and greater flexibility for use as intricate shelf-ready displays. The lighter weight reduces shipping costs and energy consumption; shelf-ready displays reduce costs, streamline replenishment, and save labor.
1985
Pioneered co-extrusions for liquid milk packaging in Central America with enhanced barrier properties, extending shelf life from 2 to 10 days, without the use of solvents.
1986
Introduced Marbelette coverings to the jewelry industry, a marble-look design on paper and board boxes that replaced textiles, resulting in reduced costs, simpler production, easier handling, increased flexibility from design through printing, a smaller environmental footprint and luxurious image.
1987
Introduced aluminum-free coffee and seasoning mix packaging with greater flexibility and resistance to cracking.
1987
Introduced a 2-ply cement bag in Mexico with greater strength, higher quality, faster production rates and less than 1/10 the breakage of traditional 4-ply bags.
1988
Initiated optimization studies that identify efficiencies in size and stacking strength to minimize waste and reduce costs for corrugated customers; and maximize truckload efficiency for cost savings on transport.
1992
First solventless COMEXI laminator with fewer BOC emissions.
1993
Launched an automated box assembly service on premises at clients’ facilities.
1994
Initiated a lead-free ink policy, removing lead from all printing inks, investing in a broad educational campaign for customers and advocating for legislation banning lead in inks and setting a new standard for safety and environmental responsibility in the industry.
1996
Introducing the revolutionary concept of on-time delivery and meeting exact order specifications, replacing the current practice of delivering “when ready,” which forced customers to maintain large buffer inventories and often led to production halts due to a lack of packaging materials. SigmaQ delivery schedules now specify not only date but hour of delivery.
2000
Significantly raised awareness for the premier Don Julio brand by solving a highly-technical challenge in the implementation of a display designed in France that many other suppliers failed to solve.
2010
Automated box assembly service at client’s installations.
2016
Installation of a clean room for pharmaceutical containers, where pollutants are filtered out, ensuring products’ quality, safety, and efficacy.
2017
Innovated a box for the pineapple industry that uses 20% less fiber and has stronger stacking-strength, replacing a 20-year-old package.
2021
Launched eco-friendly jewelry packaging made from recycled materials, which is also fully compostable.
